TAPP Coalition invited by EU Commissioners Agri & Clima cabinet - Hearings
TAPP Coalition received invites to meet cabinet members of the new EU Commissioner elects for Agriculture (Hansen) and Climate (Hoekstra). 'Your support is invaluable to us' wrote an assistant on behalf of Commissioner Wopke Hoekstra to TAPP Coalition director Jeroom Remmers in an invitation letter for a visit in Brussels. TAPP Coalition showed there is support among food companies and NGO's in Europe for an Agri-ETS model for pricing and rewarding of agri-food greenhouse gas emissions in a letter to Ursula von der Leyen, EU Commissioners and EU Parliament.
TAPP Coalition also published suggestions for questions of the EU Parliament for the hearings for the EU Commissioners Christophe Hansen and Wopke Hoekstra. TAPP Coalition also wrote suggestions how to answer these questions. Several members of the EU Parliament asked TAPP Coalition to write proposals for such questions.
Hearings for the new college of European Commissioners will begin in the European Parliament in two weeks’ time, on Monday 4 November, and end on Tuesday 12 November with the hearings of the six nominated Executive Vice-Presidents.
The full schedule is now finalised and written questions for each Commissioner from the responsible committees have now been published (you can find them here for each Commissioner-designate along with their CV and declaration of interests). We expect to see written responses to these questions published from tomorrow, Tuesday 22 October. For the mission letters from Ursula von der Leyen for each portfolio, see here. TAPP Coalition is a member of CAN europe. They wrote a reaction to the proposed new college, see here.
